Step into history at Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville, NJ, on Sunday, December 10, from 11 am to 3:30pm, for the 2nd annual “Washington’s Landing in New Jersey.” Experience the reenactment of General Washington’s daring crossing of the Delaware River and the subsequent march to Trenton.
Join NJ State Park historians, the Washington Crossing Park Association, and reenactor groups on this immersive journey. The event coincides with Pennsylvania Park’s Delaware River crossing rehearsal.
The encampment at the Park’s “Overlook” features the First Rhode Island Regiment, the first African American colonial reenacting unit in a NJ State Park. Explore history through their portrayal of Black soldiers, sailors, artillerists, marines, and musicians.
Enjoy fires, hot cider, and stories from skilled reenactors, led by General Nathaneal Greene (Ronald Rinaldi). The New Jersey Fifes and Drums, a Haybale Theater with historians Leslie Brammet and Larry Kidder, and the Stone Barn’s exhibits add to the experience.
Discover the contributions of New Jersey families, tour the Johnson Ferry House, and warm up with free hot cider. A food truck on-site offers breakfast and lunch options for sale. Entrance is free, with a suggested $10 donation per car.
Supported by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, Mercer County Division of Culture & Heritage, and generous sponsors, this event promises an immersive and educational experience.
