Resurfacing for Pennington-Rocky Hill Road from Titus Mill Road to Moores Mill-Mount Rose Road in Hopewell Township has been scheduled. The work will begin on or about Wednesday, May 15, weather permitting, and the roadway will be closed to thru traffic between 9:30am and 4:30pm.
A detour route will be posted. The work is anticipated to be completed within two weeks, weather permitting.
Residents of Pennington-Rocky Hill Road, emergency vehicles, mail vehicles, garbage trucks, and school buses will be permitted to use the road.
Process of Resurfacing
Resurfacing will be accomplished by first removing 2” of the existing pavement surface by milling with a milling machine. Driving on milled surfaces is permitted. Residents can expect minor delays. Please follow the contractor’s directions and all traffic control devices during this work.
After milling, distressed areas of the base pavement will be repaired in isolated areas. Local resident access is unlimited during this work. Minor delays should be anticipated. Please follow the contractor’s direction and all traffic control devices during this work.
This will be followed by the placement of a new 2” thick layer of hot mix asphalt surface course pavement. During this process, there will be limited access for residents. Residents can expect delays of up to 1 hour depending on weather and other conditions. Contractor personnel on-site will help direct you during these restrictions.
Safety Tips
- Use caution around manholes, water valves, ADA ramps, and driveway entrances.
- Refrain from walking pets on newly placed pavement for at least 24 hours.
- Please use caution on milled pavement as there may be loose gravel and irregularities in the surface, and bicycle riding, walking, and running will be challenging.
