Notice: Pennington Water System Flushing Could Temporarily Affect Water Clarity

by Community Contributor

Pennington Borough announced that during July and August, the Water Department will be conducting its fire hydrant flushing and inspection program. This flushing is preventative maintenance to remove sediment build-up in the water mains, which improves water quality. The process allows the Water Department to monitor water flow and pressure and to perform necessary maintenance to fire hydrants.

The flushing may sometimes cause momentary pressure loss and/or discoloration. Please note that this is only temporary. If your water is discolored, you may want to avoid washing clothes. When flushing is completed, run your cold water until it is clear.

If you have any questions, please contact the Pennington Borough Water Department at (609) 737-9440.
