LION Publishers is the nation’s only membership organization for Local Independent Online News Publishers. Their mission is to foster the viability and excellence of locally-focused independent online news organizations and cultivate their connections to their communities through education and action.
The LION Sustainability Audit supports independent local news organizations like MercerMe by identifying ways to strengthen operations, grow revenue, and increase sustainability.
With this funding, we’re gearing up for a big 2025.

For more than a decade, MercerMe has been Hopewell Valley’s only consistent source of reliable local news, and served as a vital connection point for our neighbors. Our work is grounded in the belief that strong local journalism also strengthens civic engagement, holds public officials accountable, and empowers residents to be informed, engaged citizens.
As a free news source supported by readers, advertisers, and grants, MercerMe is committed to keeping local news accessible to all. This grant will enable us to build on that legacy, expand our reach, and better serve our community.
