The Role
MercerMe is seeking a part-time Advertising Sales Representative to grow local advertising revenue and build strong, face-to-face relationships with local businesses and organizations in the community.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys consultative selling, values community connection, and is comfortable representing MercerMe in person at local events and meetings.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, nonprofits, schools, and civic organizations in Mercer County
- Sell digital advertising opportunities, including website display ads, newsletter sponsorships, sponsored content, and special projects
- Identify and close new advertisers while maintaining relationships with existing clients
- Maintain and nurture existing MercerMe advertiser relationships while developing new local business partnerships
- Develop customized advertising proposals aligned with client goals and MercerMe’s audience
- Manage advertising inquiries, agreements, and follow-up
- Represent MercerMe at local events, business gatherings, and in-person meetings
- Collaborate with the Publisher to ensure advertising aligns with editorial standards and community values
- The Advertising Sales Representative will work closely with MercerMe’s Publisher and team and will receive training, guidance, and ongoing support.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfort discussing digital advertising and marketing solutions
- Excellent organization and follow-through
- Ability to manage time effectively and work with a high degree of autonomy within a small team
- Willingness and availability to attend in-person meetings and local events
- Based in or near Mercer County, New Jersey
Preferred
- Experience in advertising sales, marketing, or business development
- Familiarity with local or nonprofit media advertising
- Comfort creating simple ad graphics or working with basic design tools (e.g., Canva)
- Existing relationships with local businesses or organizations
Schedule & Location
- Approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling
- Hybrid role: remote work combined with in-person meetings and events in Mercer County, NJ
- Occasional evening or weekend hours for community events
Compensation
- $20 per hour, approximately 20 hours per week
- Commission structure:
- 10% on renewed or existing advertisers
- 25% on new advertiser sales
- Commission is paid after signed agreements and advertiser payment are received
This is a part-time W-2 employee position. MercerMe provides direction, training, and ongoing support. Compensation includes hourly pay plus commission.
