Edwin Weed Tucker, 91, Pennington NJ on August 31 2026
Born in Quincy, MA on August 11, 1935, he was raised in Beverly, NJ and graduated from Burlington (NJ) High School. Weed was a 1958 Graduate of Hobart College, and a member of the Kappa Alpha Society.
He is survived by his wife Beverly Ann (Sutton) Tucker, his son Neil Campbell Tucker, and his /wife Debbie, as well as grandchildren Shona Leonard Tucker and Alec Leonard Tucker, and Liam Carey. He is also survived by a sister-in-law JoAnn (Ginder) Tucker, a nephew Charles B. Tucker II, his wife Dawn, and their daughter Heather, and a niece Michele (Tucker) Berzinski, and her children Paige and Tucker. Weed was predeceased by his son William Tucker, his parents The Rev. Canon Edwin W. and Henrietta Tucker, and his brother Charles B. Tucker. He served in the U.S. Army.
Weed began a pro bono career in local politics spanning decades, including 16 years in local government: He served 4 terms on Borough Council, and 4 years as Mayor of Pennington.
Weed’s journalism career began at The Packet rising from reporter to editor in chief. In 1976, Weed joined the New Jersey Press Association (NJPA) as executive secretary and general manager of the Association, and secretary of the New Jersey Press Foundation (NJPF). He taught as an adjunct instructor in journalism and mass communications at Rutgers University. After his retirement, he joined The Lawrenceville School as Director of Corporations, Foundations, and Development Communications for several years.
Weed was actively involved in numerous civic and professional organizations: including Vice President, Hopewell Valley Veterans Association, and Senior Advisory Board.
Weed’s involvement with community activities are too numerous to list here, but we want you to know that a street in the Heritage Way development was dedicated as Tucker Way in recognition of his decades of community service.
Memorial service will be celebrated Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00AM in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 300 South Main St. Pennington. Followed by interment in the church’s memorial garden.
