Under the lights on a chilly Sunday evening, Hopewell Township police officers and local firefighters took their friendly rivalry to the football field, all for a good cause.
The Hopewell Township Police Department defeated a combined team representing the Pennington, Union and Hopewell fire departments and Hopewell Valley emergency services, 64-58, in the annual Police vs. Fire flag football game Sunday, Oct. 25, at Ackerson Field at Hopewell Valley Central High School.
The victory marked the police department’s seventh consecutive win in the matchup.
The evening featured spirited competition and plenty of scoring, with the two teams combining for 122 points.
Beyond the friendly rivalry, the game served as a fundraiser for the Hopewell Valley Youth Football and Cheer Association. Admission was $5, with proceeds benefiting the organization.
