The Upper Makefield Township Police Department has announced that Susan Barnhart, 53, of Nedsland Avenue in Titusville was among the people identified by the Bucks County Coroner as those who perished in the flood.
A post to Barnhart’s Facebook page contains many expressions of sorrow for her loss by people who describe her as a loving friend, caring daughter, and dedicated advocate for animals.
The Police Department emphasized that the people who got caught in the flash flood did NOT drive into a flooded roadway. The water came upon them and that there was nothing they could have done to avoid the suddenness of the raging water.
Other victims identified by the Police are:
Enzo Depiero, 78-year-old male from Newtown Township, PA
Katheryn Seley, 32-year-old female from Charleston, SC
Yuko Love, 64-year-old female from Newtown Township, PA
Linda Depiero, 74-year-old female from Newtown Township, PA
First responders are still searching for Katheryn Seley’s two children: Mattie, age 2, and Conrad, age 9 months. The three had been traveling together with the children’s father, brother, and grandmother, who were able to make it to safety. Sadly, Seley and the little ones were swept away in the current.
Editor’s note: We want to, again, thank Mike Chipowsky for his extensive help with this story. Mike is a retired police chief and understands what the first responders who have been participating in the recovery efforts for these flood victims are going through. We salute and thank all the First Responders who work to keep us safe and who continue to help when rescue can’t be achieved.
