Driver Arrested After Traffic Stop
On August 28, 2026, Officers Nicholas Wright and Demeter were conducting a traffic enforcement detail in the area of Rt. 579, when they observed a black Chrysler with a tinted windshield. After observing the violation, the officers initiated a motor vehicle stop on Jacobs Creek Rd and made contact with the driver of the vehicle. Officer Wright then conducted a check of the driver’s license, which revealed an active warrant out of Jackson Township. He was arrested on the outstanding warrant and transported to HTPD for processing. He was given a new court date for Jackson Township Municipal Court and released on his own recognizance.
DUI at the Pennington Traffic Circle
On August 29, 2026, Officers Nicholas Venettone and Enriquez were on routine patrol in the area of the Pennington Circle when they observed a black BMW in the parking lot of the Lukoil gas station. The vehicle had its lights on and was parked at an angle across two marked parking spaces. The officers approached the vehicle, and upon making contact with the driver they observed signs of intoxication and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Field sobriety tests were then administered, and officers determined that he was impaired. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to HTPD for processing and breath testing. Prior to his release, he was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Inspect. The matter will be heard in Hopewell Township Municipal Court.
Driver Arrested for Outstanding Warrant
Officer Anthony Pizzola was conducting routine patrol near Scotch Road on Aug. 30, 2026 when he observed a silver Hyundai traveling northbound. A check of the vehicle’s registration was conducted and revealed an active warrant issued out of Plainsboro Township for the vehicle’s registered owner. The check also showed that her driving privileges were suspended. Officer Pizzola initiated a motor vehicle stop and confirmed that she was operating the vehicle. She was arrested on the warrant and transported to HTPD for processing. She was given a new court date in Plainsboro Township Municipal Court and released on her own recognizance. Prior to her release, she was issued a summons for Driving While Suspended. The matter will be heard in Hopewell Township Municipal Court.
Bathroom Vanity Stolen from Yard
On September 1, 2026, Officers Karla Jenkins and Brigham responded to a residence on Lambertville-Hopewell Road for a report of theft. The victim stated that a bathroom vanity had been delivered to her residence in two boxes on August 20th. Due to the house being under renovation, the boxes were left outside near the driveway. An unknown person or persons reportedly forced open the boxes and stole the vanity. The theft is believed to have occurred between August 24th and August 30th. The stolen vanity is valued at approximately $2,400. The incident remains under investigation.
Over $190k Fraudulent Company Loan Reported
Officer Marissa McCallum responded to police headquarters for a walk-in report of fraud on September 1, 2026. The complainant stated that her employer received invoices from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for repayment of a loan that had been fraudulently obtained in the company’s name. She noted that the company is not a small business and would not have been eligible to apply for the loan. The company later received a notice from a collection agency stating that the total debt associated with the loan was $193,587.31. She further advised that the SBA, Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and collection agency had all been contacted regarding the matter. The company did not sustain any financial loss as a result of this incident, and the matter remains under investigation.
Purse Stolen from Car at Forge Circle
On September 1, 2026, Officer Jack Lane responded to a residence on Forge Circle for a report of a theft. The victim stated that sometime during the overnight hours, an unknown person(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her purse from the center console. The purse contained multiple credit cards, her driver’s license, and approximately $2,000 in cash. There were no signs of forced entry. The incident remains under investigation.
Credit Card Numbers Stolen, Fraudulent Accounts Created
On September 4, 2026, Officer Marissa McCallum responded to a residence on Pleasant Valley Rd for a report of fraud. The victim stated that an unknown party accessed their credit card account and used a digital card number to make unauthorized purchases. The victim’s checking account was linked to the credit card account, and funds were withdrawn from the checking account to pay down the credit card balance. The victim also stated that Capital One and Kohl’s credit card accounts had been opened in their name without authorization. The appropriate financial institutions were notified. The total financial loss has not yet been determined. The incident remains under investigation.
Tinted Windows and Missing Plate Leads to Arrest
Sgt. Adam Liotta was conducting routine patrol near the Pennington Circle on September 5, 2026, when he observed a black Ford traveling southbound. The vehicle’s windshield was heavily tinted, and no front license plate was affixed to it. After observing the violations, Sgt. Liotta initiated a motor vehicle stop on Pennington Rd and made contact with the driver. He then conducted a check of his driver’s license, which revealed an active warrant out of the City of Trenton. He was arrested on the outstanding warrant and transported to HTPD for processing. He was given a new court date for Trenton Municipal Court and released on his own recognizance. Prior to his release, he was issued summonses for Tinted Windows, Driving While Unlicensed, and Driving While Suspended. The matter will be heard in Hopewell Township Municipal Court.
Expired Inspection Sticker Leads to Arrest
On September 6, 2026, Officer Tylor Blake was conducting a traffic enforcement detail near the Pennington Circle when he observed a black Chrysler traveling northbound without a valid inspection sticker. A check of the vehicle’s registration was conducted and revealed an active warrant issued out of Fanwood for the vehicle’s registered owner. Officer Blake initiated a motor vehicle stop and confirmed that he was operating the vehicle. He was arrested on the warrant and transported to HTPD for processing. He was given a new court date in Fanwood Municipal Court and released on his own recognizance. Prior to his release, he was issued a summons for Failure to Inspect. The matter will be heard in Hopewell Township Municipal Court.
Verbal Dispute Leads to Active Warrant Arrest
Officer Brandon Kuzma was dispatched to the area of Forge Circle for a report of a dispute on September 6, 2026. Upon arrival, he made contact with the involved parties. During the investigation, officers checked the involved parties’ identifying information and learned that he had multiple active warrants out of the City of Trenton. He was arrested on the warrants and transported to HTPD for processing. He was given a new court date in Trenton Municipal Court and released on his own recognizance. Officers determined the dispute was verbal in nature, and no criminal charges were filed against either party.
License Plate Stolen After Car Was Sold
On September 9, 2026, Officers Karla Jenkins and Finnegan responded to police headquarters for a walk-in report of a stolen license plate. The victim stated that he had sold his Honda to Carvana on July 10th. At the time that the vehicle was picked up, he was unable to remove the front license plate because the mounting hardware was rusted. A Carvana representative advised him to surrender the rear plate to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission and request that the registration be deactivated, which he did. He later received a parking citation from the Albany Police Department in New York involving his former license plate, which was reportedly displayed on a Dodge that he did not own. The Albany Police Department was notified, and the license plate was entered into a law enforcement database as stolen. The incident remains under investigation.
