As everyone heads back to work and school after Labor Day, Elizabethtown Gas will continue installing a new gas main through Pennington and into Hopewell Township. Drivers can expect rolling closures and detours around East Delaware Avenue and nearby side streets. Crews generally begin at 9 a.m.; separate night work at the Route 31/West Delaware Avenue intersection starts at 9 p.m., with one lane kept open on Route 31.
“Our transportation department is working diligently to navigate the road closures taking place in our community. While this important work is underway, we know it may cause some delays. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work together to keep our students safe and traffic moving smoothly at the start of the school year,” said Dr. Rosetta Treece, Superintendent of the Hopewell Valley Regional School District.
Both municipalities say residents will be able to reach their homes, and essential services—emergency response, trash/recycling and deliveries—will be accommodated. Please note there is no trash pick-up on Monday because it is Labor Day.
