On or about Monday, March 28, 2022 a milling and resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on Bear Tavern Road (CR 579) from Maddock Road to Scenic Drive in Ewing/Hopewell Townships. Mercer County anticipates that this work will take approximately four (4) weeks, weather permitting.

Work would be completed in three (3) phases:

  • The first phase would consist of milling and paving the section of Bear Tavern Road from Nursery Road to Jacobs Creek Road in Ewing Township. During this time Bear Tavern Road would be closed to through traffic. A detour would be posted directing motorists to use Nursery Road, Scotch Road, Washington Crossing Road and Jacobs Creek Road.
  • The second phase would consist of milling and paving Bear Tavern Road between Jacobs Creek Road and Maddock Road in Hopewell Township. Again, Bear Tavern Road would be closed to through traffic with motorists directed to use Nursery Road, Scotch Road, Washington Crossing Road and Jacobs Creek Road.
  • The third phase would consist of milling and paving Bear Tavern Road between Nursery Road and Scenic Drive in Ewing Township. During this time, traffic on Bear Tavern Road will be maintained at all times with half road closures and single lane direction traffic. Please note that during staged operation, motorists may experience delays.

Road work and detours would be in effect from 9am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. Access would be permitted for local businesses, residents, service and emergency vehicles.
