Borough election proves that every vote matters: Grillo wins by 9

The unofficial final tally of votes by mail and provisional ballots today for the hotly contested Hopewell Borough Board of Education seat shows Jessica Grillo beating her opponent Elizabeth Maziarz by 9 votes.

The tally of voting machines Tuesday night indicated Grillo 185 to Maziarz’s 184.

Today, the Mercer County Clerk’s office staff counted the votes and indicated:

Total votes by mail 33 for Grillo, 28 for Maziarz.

Provisional votes 7 for Grillo, 4 for Maziarz.

Total: 225 for Grillo to 216 for Maziarz.  There are 1,656 registered voters in Hopewell Borough.
