Boy Scouts honor Washington’s Crossing

by Mike Chipowsky

This morning on a cold and rainy day, members of Boy Scout Troop 1776 of Washington’s Crossing and Titusville laid a wreath commemorating General Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas night in 1776. The wreath was placed next to a marker that is near the spot where Washington and his troops landed in New Jersey.

Scoutmaster Chris Heiss said, “Troop 1776 was founded in 1935 and has placed a wreath at this location for 88 straight years. It is a tradition that I hope continues for many more years”.
