Bristol Myers Squibb plans to eliminate another 265 positions in New Jersey, extending a series of workforce reductions that has now resulted in more than 1,700 announced layoffs in the state since the beginning of 2025.
The latest filing under New Jersey’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act lists 265 affected employees in Princeton, with layoffs scheduled to take place between Dec. 17, 2026, and May 21, 2027.
It is the third WARN notice filed by Bristol Myers Squibb in New Jersey this year alone.
A February notice listed 247 employees in Lawrence Township, with layoffs scheduled in several waves between May and the end of December. In April, the company filed another notice covering 206 employees, with cuts scheduled between July 16 and Dec. 31.
Combined with the latest filing, those three notices account for 718 announced layoffs in 2026.
The new notice also extends the company’s previously announced New Jersey workforce reductions well into next year, with the final layoffs currently scheduled for May 21.
More than 1,700 layoffs since 2025
The cuts are part of an ongoing restructuring effort at Bristol Myers Squibb that has resulted in more than 1,700 announced layoffs in New Jersey since the beginning of 2025.
The company has been working toward billions of dollars in cost savings through organizational restructuring and operational changes as it contends with patent expirations, competition from generic drugs and changes in the pharmaceutical market.
Bristol Myers Squibb has a major presence in Mercer County, including its corporate headquarters and research operations.
The WARN notices do not identify the individual positions or departments affected by the layoffs.
Under New Jersey’s WARN law, covered employers are required to provide advance notice of certain mass layoffs and other employment actions.
