COVID-19 School Notification: Positive Case in School

Letter from HVCHS Principal Patricia Riley:

Dear Hopewell Valley Central High School Families:

This letter is to inform you that a student  in the Hopewell Valley Central High School has tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The student was most recently in school on Wednesday, November 4.

The District is working closely with public health officials and following CDC, state, and local health department guidance in order to assure the health and safety of our community. If you have been exposed (within 6 feet for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more in 24 hours, based on the new CDC guidelines) you will be contacted by the Department of Health. Please note that due to the new CDC guidelines for close contact, contact tracing may take additional time. We will notify you when contact tracing is complete.

At this point, due to the timing of the case, school closure is not required.

We understand the level of concern regarding COVID-19, and we appreciate your support and cooperation. You can assist us by remaining vigilant but sensible in your approach to dealing with this health concern. Should you have any questions about this situation, please feel free to contact our local Department of Health at 908-359-8211 x235 (Pennington and Hopewell Boroughs) or 609-737-0120 (Hopewell Township).
