by MercerMe Staff

According to the Hopewell Township Police Department, on September 18, 2018, a female employee of Cenlar FSB, working at 1800 American Boulevard near Scotch Road, in Hopewell Township, opened an envelope that contained a small amount of an unknown powdery substance. The building was evacuated after a fire alarm pull-station was activated by an employee.

The Hopewell Township Police Department, Hopewell Valley Emergency Services personnel, and the Pennington Fire Company responded to the Princeton Place at Hopewell Campus at approximately 10:56am for a possible exposure incident. Under the direction of Hopewell Valley Emergency Services Chief Matthew Martin, the Trenton Hazmat Unit was requested and responded to the scene.

Due to weather conditions, employees sheltered in an attached parking garage during this investigation.

The Trenton Hazmat Unit determined that the substance was non-hazardous. No injuries resulted from this incident and employees were able to repopulate the building around 12:30 pm.
