Picasso: His Life, His Art, and His Women! (virtual)

January 10, 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Join Jeanne Johnson, docent at Morven Museum and Garden, famed for her hour-long-in-depth studies of artists, guides participants through the life and work of Picasso: His Life, His Art, and His Women! on Tuesday, January 10, 7pm. Pablo Picasso was a pioneer of Cubism. While lauded, he is as controversial today as he was when he painted Les Demoiselles d’Avignon which was considered immoral when first exhibited in 1916. Picasso ‘s love of women led to two marriages, six mistresses and many intense love affairs. Many were muses for his work and mothers of his children. He loved deeply and often, passionately, selfishly, and jealously. Women that entered his life experienced immense romantic love and then unruly devastation. Only one woman ever left him… Picasso’s family members were also left experiencing love and devastation. Despite his lifestyle, the power of Picasso’s work has enshrined his world-renowned legacy, but the story of his life shows a twisting tapestry of love, pain, and triumph.
