From the Cradle to the Major Leagues: New Jersey Baseball 1855-1915

Beginning in June of 2019, Morven Museum & Garden will host an exhibit on New Jersey baseball, 1855-1915 which will tell the story of the state’s important role in the history of early organized baseball through artifacts, text, images and other visuals.  The exhibit will describe the nature of the first New Jersey baseball clubs, the differences between 19th century baseball and the modern game and cover areas of special interest such as the African-American experience and women’s participation. The market takes place every Wednesday (4-8pm) and Sunday (9am-2pm) at 62 E Broad St, Hopewell 08525. Hosted by Fairgrown Farm, the market includes a variety of local vendors selling everything from beautifully arranged bouquets to pasture-raised beef. FREE CONCERT every Sunday by different local musicians (10:30am-1pm). SPECIAL EVENT - Sunday, Sept 8th: Antimo's Italian Kitchen will be giving away FREE brick oven made pizza at the market in celebration of their 20th year in business!

Victorian Pressed Flower Workshop

Spend an afternoon as Victorian women, such as Harriet Stockton might have, and create pressed flower art surrounded by historic garden with Morven’s Curator of Education Debra Lampert-Rudman. Learn the “love language” of flowers, enjoy an illustrated powerpoint on this Victorian art, and create artwork of your own special design suitable for framing.
