HomeFront to Host Spooktacular 5K Run to Benefit Local Children

by Community Contributor

The community’s most thrilling event is just around the corner! Join HomeFront for the third annual Halloween 5K and One Mile Run/Walk on Sunday, October 29 and make a difference in the lives of children impacted by poverty and homelessness in our community. This event will take place on a United States Track and Field (USATF) certified course at Carnegie Center in Princeton beginning at 9am and promises an unforgettable experience of fitness, fun, and compassion.

HomeFront’s Halloween 5K and One Mile Run/Walk aims to raise awareness and funds to support their Joy, Hopes, and Dreams (JHD) year-round children’s programming. JHD is much more than just an after-school program. It runs six days a week and includes tutoring and academic enrichment, arts classes in partnership with the Arts Council of Princeton, and exposure to new experiences and opportunities through weekly field trips to museums, the movies, amusement parks and more. Local families affected by poverty and homelessness rely on HomeFront’s children’s programming to keep their kids safe so they can work and manage the stresses of everyday life.

Participants are encouraged to dress up in their spookiest Halloween costumes, transforming the 5K run into a lively and festive parade of ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and all manner of creature. The event is open to all age groups and fitness levels, with an emphasis on family-friendly fun including Trunk or Treat, Craft Alley, and yard games including inflatable axe throwing. The Pre-school Pumpkin Dash starts at 9:00 A.M. and the 5K and One Mile Fun Run and Walk begin at 10:00 A.M. Along the USATF certified 5K course, runners will be thrilled by surprise Halloween-themed decorations and spooky live music, creating and electrifying atmosphere for everyone involved.
