Hopewell celebrates Eleanor Baker’s 100 birthday!

On May 1st, Eleanor Marut Baker turned 100 years old. Mrs. Baker has lived in Hopewell Township her entire life.

She was born on May 1, 1921 to the late Jacob and Agnes Marut of Hopewell Township. Mrs. Baker was educated at the small, red Harbourton school house and graduated from Pennington Central High School on Main Street in Pennington.

Over the years, Mrs. Baker worked at Heinemann Electric, Cointreau Liquors, and Ribsam’s Florist which was located in Pennytown.

In 1945 she married the late John W. Baker and together they had three sons John, Ken and Harry. Ken recently said,” Mom is a strong woman who still enjoys doing word search games and she is very good at it!”.

Mrs. Baker’s family also includes two grandsons, John and Shawn and three great grandsons Nathen, Branden and Trevor.
