Hopewell Township police officers reported  the following: On Thursday, October 18, 2018 at approximately 1:47pm, Hopewell Township Police Department responded to Hopewell Valley Central High School for a report that a student had allegedly physically assaulted multiple school employees.

Officers arrived on report that a 15-year old male juvenile student had alleged assaulted the employees. As officers attempted to place the juvenile under arrest, he alleged resisted and punched Officer Brian Dendis in the face, causing a minor injury. The juvenile also allegedly spat at Sergeant James Rosso and school staff during this incident.

After being taken into custody, the juvenile was transported to the Hopewell Township Police Department for processing. The juvenile will be charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault against law enforcement officers and school personnel. He will also be charged with resisting arrest. These charges will be forwarded to the Mercer County Family Court for review.

The High School went into a temporary building freeze during this incident. A building freeze allows classes to continue as usual, however pedestrian movement in the hallways is restricted. The building freeze was lifted shortly after the juvenile was in custody.
