Hopewell Parents and Children First to Step into Spring

by MercerMe Staff

Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association congratulates the first group to use the NJ Walking School Bus App to organize walks with their children to and from school. The GMTMA Safe Routes to School coordinators met them on Tuesday morning and brought reflective umbrellas and pedometers for the winners.

GMTMA would like to thank Heidi Willenius, Jed and Sarah Kornbluh, the parents who organized the groups and the principal of the Hopewell Elementary School, David Friedrich, for being great supporters of GMTMA’s mission. As the NJ Department of Transportation’s designated regional coordinator for Safe Routes to School efforts, Greater Mercer TMA works to keep children in Mercer and Ocean counties healthy by encouraging them to stay active through walking and biking to school and offering safety education.

There is still time to participate in the “Step into Spring. Ready. Set. Win!” contest.  Parents can download the NJ Walking School Bus App and create or join an existing walking group. Every time they or their children children walk to/from school they are entered to win great prizes.  The drawing for the grand prize will take place on June 6, 2016.

Details and contest rules are available at www.gmtma.org.

Greater Mercer TMA is a non-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to reducing traffic and improving mobility in and around Mercer and Ocean counties. GMTMA is committed to providing transportation choices that are good for commuters, business, community, and the environment.
