Hopewell Township Awarded $90,000 for Tennis Court Improvements

by Community Contributor

The Township of Hopewell is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $90,000 Local Recreational Improvement grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. This grant will be put towards revitalizing four dilapidated tennis courts at Independence Park located on Stephenson Rd. The improvements will include new surfacing, nets, and lines.

“In late 2024, the Township Committee engaged the Aubrey Group LLC for grant-writing services, and this grant is the result of this new partnership,” said Committee Member Uma Purandare, who spearheaded the effort to bring professional grant writing services to the Township. The Committee would like to thank them for their hard work which contributed to this award.

The Local Recreational Improvement Grant program was created to support improvement projects that enhance the quality of life in local communities through recreational infrastructure upgrades. The tennis courts have long needed attention, and thanks to the Department of Community Affairs, we will be able to provide a safe and modern space for community engagement.
