Unauthorized Debit Card Charges at Target Reported by Victim
On November 18, Officer Paul Alvaro met with the victim of fraud in the Hopewell Township Police Department (HTPD) lobby. The victim reported that they found two unauthorized charges on their debit card statement. Both charges were made to Target and totaled $70.64. The charges were reported to the victim’s bank and a police report was made documenting the incident. The victim was reminded to monitor their accounts and credit reports going forward.
$60,000 in Cryptocurrency Stolen from Hacked Binance Account
On November 26, Sgt Mark Panzano met with the victim of theft and fraud at their residence. The victim reported that $60,000 in cryptocurrency was stolen from their Binance account. The victim logged into their account on the previous day and found that the funds in the account were missing. It appeared as though the account was hacked and the funds were stolen. Sgt Panzano received the account details for further follow-up and investigation. Nothing further at this time.
Groceries and Beauty Products Worth $421 Stolen from Stop & Shop
On November 30, Officer Eric Lei responded to the Stop&Shop on Denow Road for a reported shoplifting that occurred on November 27. Loss prevention reported that two parties entered the store on November 27 and stole approximately $421 worth of groceries and beauty products. The suspects were identified as one male and one female. Both parties are seen exiting the store without payment. Surveillance was turned over to police for further investigation.
