Yard Lights Cut, Trail Cam SD Card Stolen
On August 13, the victim of criminal mischief met with Officer George Peterson in the Hopewell Township Police Department lobby. The victim reported that their string of lights in the yard of the residence had been cut and a portion was stolen from the residence. In addition, the SD card for their trail camera was removed and stolen. The incident is believed to have occurred between August 9 and August 11. The incident is under investigation.
Unauthorized Charges on Bank Statement Under Investigation
On August 8, Sergeant Mark Panzano met with the victim of fraud at HTPD headquarters. The victim stated they found two charges totaling $52.94 on their bank statement which were not authorized. The victim reported the charges to his bank and filed a police report. Both transactions appeared to have taken place in California. The victim was advised to monitor their banking statements and credit reports going forward.
Energy Drinks Stolen from Stop & Shop
On August 8, Officer Brandon Kuzma responded to the Stop & Shop for a reported shoplifting on the previous day. Loss prevention reported that a female subject entered the store on August 7 at 9:25pm and stole various packages of energy drinks from the store, leaving without payment. The total loss was reported as $351.66 in goods. The incident is under investigation.
Attempted $25K Fraud Thwarted
On August 10, Sgt Panzano responded to a Mckonkey Way address for a reported fraud. The victim reported that there was an attempt made by an unknown party to cash a check for $25,000 on their account. The incident was reported to the victim’s bank who provided a copy of the fraudulent check. The check appeared the same as their personal checks that they use, but this one had been altered to the amount of $25,000. The check number used was fraudulent. The victim suffered no monetary loss as the transaction was denied.
Shoplifting Suspects Arrested After Fleeing Pennington ShopRite
On August 10, at 2:49pm, Sgt Panzano and other officers were dispatched to the ShopRite of Pennington for a reported shoplifting in progress. The suspect fled the scene on foot but was located nearby by officers, taken into custody, and transported to HTPD for processing. A second suspect was not apprehended on scene, but was later after a review of store surveillance and positive identification. Both subjects were charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, and hindering apprehension. The matter will be heard in Superior Court.
Driver Arrested for DUI After Running Off Cleveland Road
On August 12, at about 5:10pm, Officer Maria Gavdanovich was dispatched to Cleveland Road for a reported motorist assist for a driver who ran off the roadway into a ditch. Upon arrival, the driver was exhibiting signs of intoxication. Officer Gavdanovich had the driver perform roadside sobriety tests. The driver was found to be under the influence and arrested on scene. They were transported to HTPD for processing and charged with DUI and reckless driving. The matter will be heard in Municipal Court.
Driver Arrested for DUI After Hitting Guardrail on Route 29
On August 16, at about 5:39pm, Officer George Peterson responded to Route 29 near Pleasant Valley Road for a reported drunk driver who had stuck the guardrail and kept going. Peterson arrived on the scene and conducted a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle in question. had the driver perform roadside sobriety tests. The driver was found to be under the influence and arrested on the scene. They were transported to HTPD for processing and charged with DUI and reckless driving, open container, and failure to report an accident / leaving the scene. The matter will be heard in Municipal Court.
Copper Stolen from Hopewell Parc Construction Site
On August 19, at approximately 8:28am Officer Ryan Finnegan responded to a Hopewell Parc address for a reported theft of copper. The residence is still under construction and copper was stolen from the exterior of the home. It is believed to have occurred between August 17 and August 18. The estimated value of the copper stolen is $2,700. The incident is under investigation.
Wallet and Keys Stolen During Yoga Class
On August 26, Officer James Stanton responded to Honor Yoga on Denow Road for a reported theft of wallet and keys. A patron reported that she attended class at the studio between 10:20am and 10:40am, which is when the victim believes the theft occurred. A wallet and keys were stolen and a charge for $500 was found on the victim’s credit card. A front desk employee saw two unknown females enter the studio during this timeframe and as of now, they are suspects in the case. This case is under investigation with active leads.
