The Hopewell Valley Chorus is welcoming new singers as it begins its 66th season, with open rehearsals scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14 and Monday, Sept. 21.
The non-auditioned adult community chorus rehearses Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Pennington School, 112 W. Delaware Ave., Pennington. The first two rehearsals of the season are open to prospective members who would like to sing with the group before making a commitment.
All voice parts are welcome, with the chorus particularly seeking additional tenor and bass singers. Membership is $100 for the season and covers the cost of music.
The Hopewell Valley Chorus includes more than 50 singers from Mercer and surrounding counties and has provided a musical home to more than 900 singers during its history. Its mission is to give people who enjoy singing an opportunity to learn, perform and share a variety of music under professional direction.
The chorus typically presents three community performances each year, including a holiday concert in December, a spring concert in May and its annual Spring into Song program.
Since 2000, Spring into Song has brought together local singing groups for a free community concert supporting the Trenton Children’s Chorus. Contributions through the event have raised more than $70,000 to help send more than 70 Trenton Children’s Chorus singers to summer music programs.
The organization also awards the annual Hopewell Valley Chorus Scholarship, established in 1973. The $1,000 scholarship supports a graduating high school senior from the Hopewell Valley who is musically talented and plans to remain involved with music.
Over the years, chorus members have also participated in performances at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York, as well as a performance of Mozart’s Coronation Mass in Salzburg.
Prospective singers can attend either of the first two rehearsals without auditioning. More information about joining the chorus and its 2026-27 season is available on their website or via email at [email protected].
