The Hopewell Valley Chorus invites the community to its spring concert, “Remembrance and Resilience,” on May 10 at 7pm at St. James Church, 115 E. Delaware Avenue in Pennington. This concert will feature two powerful works that, despite being separated by 130 years, both honor the strength of the human spirit.
The program begins with the premiere of “Out of the Ashes of Holocaust,” a new cantata by acclaimed contemporary composer Joshua Fishbein. This new work recounts the true stories of two families: Greek Jews fleeing the Nazis and the Greek Christians who sheltered them, sharing in their struggles. Dr. Fishbein will attend in person to introduce his piece.
The evening will conclude with Gabriel Fauré’s beloved “Requiem,” known for its serene and hopeful tone.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets can be reserved for $12 in advance or $15 at the door. For more information or to secure tickets, email [email protected] or visit hopewellvalleychorus.org/join-us. Join us to celebrate remembrance, resilience, and the enduring power of music.
