Hopewell Valley Honors 19 Retirees for Nearly 500 Years of Combined Service

The Hopewell Valley Regional School District honored 19 retiring staff members during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, recognizing a combined 490 years of service across schools and departments.

The retirees—who include teachers, counselors, support staff, and specialists—were individually acknowledged during the ceremony, where each received a gift bag, and personal congratulations from Superintendent Dr. Rosetta Treece, Director of Human Resources Tana Smith, and Board President Anita Williams Galiano.

“This evening, we are proud to recognize the 2025 class of retirees,” Smith said. “What truly stands out is their unwavering work ethic, deep commitment, and outstanding professionalism.”

The 2025 retirees are:

  • Ana Benavides, Spanish Teacher, Hopewell Elementary School – 25 years
  • Stanley Ken Bialota, Skilled Craftsman, Administration Building – 29 years
  • Jeffrey Cobb, School Psychologist, Hopewell Valley Central High School – 20 years
  • Christine D’Avirro, School Counselor, Timberlane Middle School – 22 years
  • Britt Marie Dominick Ingram, Music Teacher, Bear Tavern Elementary School – 28 years
  • Pamela Edwards, Wellness Teacher, Hopewell Valley Central High School – 34 years
  • Denise Elliott, School Nurse, Hopewell Elementary School – 18 years
  • Bari Frydman, Special Education Teacher, Timberlane Middle School – 18 years
  • Michelle Hamilton, Teacher, Hopewell Elementary School – 26 years
  • Lori Leopardi, Social Worker, Hopewell Elementary School – 25 years
  • Ana Lopez, Teacher, Bear Tavern Elementary School – 27 years
  • Joanne Markulec, Secretary, Bear Tavern Elementary School – 19 years
  • Lisa Miller, Teacher, Bear Tavern Elementary School – 26 years
  • Janet Mills, Music Teacher, Hopewell Elementary School – 39 years
  • Terri Nelson, Substitute Coordinator, Administration Building – 39 years
  • Amy Parker, School Counselor, Timberlane Middle School – 32 years
  • Claudia Scotti, Teacher, Hopewell Elementary School – 32 years
  • Yvonne Vazquez, Spanish Teacher, Stony Brook Elementary School – 23 years
  • Donna Weidman, Teacher, Bear Tavern Elementary School – 36 years

Each retiree was called up to be recognized as attendees applauded their contributions to the district.
