Hopewell Valley Honors Service Members at Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

by Mike Chipowsky

The Hopewell Valley Veterans Association hosted its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday at Woolsey Park, bringing residents together to honor those who have served and sacrificed for the nation.

Observed each year on November 11, Veterans Day pays tribute to all U.S. military veterans — past and present — and marks the anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I in 1918. Across the country, communities hold ceremonies and events recognizing the courage, commitment, and service of America’s armed forces.

At the Hopewell Valley event, Colonel Ken Baker reminded those attending that “we must always remember to thank our Veterans for their service and for the sacrifices they made protecting our country.”

Following the ceremony, attendees gathered for a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony recognizing the 250th birthdays of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Navy — a symbolic way to honor the enduring legacy of military service and unity across generations.
