Hopewell Valley Central High School will present its fall production of The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s powerful 1953 play exploring fear, integrity, and the consequences of false accusations. Performances will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, and Saturday, November 15 in the Performing Arts Center at Hopewell Valley Central High School, 259 Pennington-Titusville Road, Pennington.
A dramatization of the Salem witch trials of 1692–1693, The Crucible was written as an allegory for the anti-communist hysteria of McCarthyism in the 1940s and 1950s. The story follows a Puritan community consumed by suspicion and fear, where accusations of witchcraft spiral into chaos and moral conflict.
The production invites audiences to reflect on how history’s lessons about truth, conscience, and courage remain relevant today.
Tickets are available in advance at cur8.com/446/project/135014 or at the door on the night of the show.
