We already told you about the Hopewell Valley’s Historical Society’s annual Spring Social set for May 19, but they have planned many more activities through out the month. Living in an area full of history as we do, the HVHS Program Committee never fails to fascinate:

St. Michael’s Orphanage: A Visual History
Wed., May 8 – Doug Dixon provides a visual history of St. Michael’s, using photos and memories from a variety of contributors.

Foursquares: Iconic Hopewell Houses
Wed., May 22 – Ian Burrow discusses the Foursquare house, an American icon of the early 20th century still prevalent in Hopewell Borough today

A River Runs By It: How Hopewell’s Geography Influenced the American Revolution
Fri., May 24 – Larry Kidder discusses how Hopewell’s geographic location and landforms caused its residents to experience the American Revolution
