HVRSD kicks off HV Green Week by giving kids a day off school to go be in nature

by Amie Rukenstein

The following email was sent to Hopewell Valley Regional School District Families on Tuesday, March 22:

Hello Hopewell Valley Community,
As you know, the district has two e-learning days built into the school calendar for weather related closures. This has allowed us to avoid adding days to the end of the school calendar if we did not go beyond the 2 days.
Fortunately, we did not have to use our second e-learning day this winter. As a result, we are giving that day back to the community to allow us all to get out into nature, to be with friends and family, and to recharge.
April 18th, the Monday after Easter Sunday, will now be a Wellness Day. All schools and offices will be closed. Our schools will be closed and no homework will be assigned over the long four day weekend.  We encourage you to get out into nature with your family and friends. Let’s see if we can stay off of our devices as much as possible–except to take selfies of you and your friends and families out in nature. Share your selfies and pictures with your school principals and you just might see yourselves on the district and school websites during Earth Week.
We have been through a lot together over the past 2 years. Take this time to recharge and to get ready for the rest of the school year. Have a great day and upcoming Spring Break!
Sincerely,
Rosetta D. Treece, Superintendent of Schools
