Lawrence Hopewell Trail to Host First “Complete the Loop” 5K and Fun Run May 2

by Community Contributor

Lawrence Hopewell Trail will launch its first annual Complete the Loop 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, May 2, at 9 a.m. in Rosedale Park, bringing runners, walkers, and families together to support completion of the region’s planned 20-mile trail loop.

The new community event celebrates the Trail’s long-term goal of creating a continuous multi-use route connecting Hopewell and Lawrence townships. Organizers say the race is designed for participants of all ages and experience levels and aims to highlight the Trail’s role in recreation, health, and regional connectivity.

Participants may choose between a timed 5K race, open to runners and walkers ages 8 and up, and a family-friendly Fun Run.

Early registration is $35 for the 5K and $25 for the Fun Run, increasing to $40 and $30 respectively on March 1. Participants registered by April 26 will receive an official race T-shirt; shirts will be available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis.

Proceeds from the event will support construction of the four remaining trail segments needed to complete the loop. The nonprofit organization is funded through grants and private donations and is guided by a small professional staff and volunteer Board of Trustees.

“The Lawrence Hopewell Trail already offers many beautiful sections, and we can’t wait for people to experience the full loop without interruptions,” said board chair David Sandahl. “This event is an opportunity to bring our community together at one of its most scenic locations for a morning of fun, recreation, and purpose.”

Hopewell Township Mayor David Chait welcomed the event and the continued progress on the trail.

“The Complete the Loop 5K is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the progress being made on the Lawrence Hopewell Trail,” Chait said. “Hopewell Township is proud of its partnership in the effort to complete the loop, and I’m looking forward to seeing the community come out in support.”

Organizers encourage pre-registration and are also seeking additional community and business sponsors. Current sponsors include Fleet Feet Princeton and Clinical Research Philadelphia.

Registration and sponsorship information is available at lhtrail.org/5k. Event updates will be posted at lhtrail.org, and registered participants will receive email notifications. Questions may be directed to [email protected].
