by Community Contributor

A structure fire occurred at approximately 6:40am this morning, at a Cleveland Road address in Hopewell Township. Township Police received 9-1-1 calls from a passing motorist and neighbors reporting that a house was on fire. Upon arrival, responding officers and fire personnel found the house to be fully involved with smoke and flames.

Fire personnel, under the command of Chief Roger Demareski of the Pennington Fire Company, arrived on location and began work on the structure fire.

Responding agencies assisting the Pennington Fire Company were Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, Hopewell Fire Department, Union Fire & Rescue, Lawrence Township Fire Department, Princeton Fire Department, Ewing Fire Department, Montgomery Fire Department, Plainsboro Fire Department, units from Hunterdon and Bucks Counties, Hopewell EMU, and the Princeton Rehab Unit.

The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire and suffered extensive damage. Preliminary investigation of the fire pointed to nothing suspicious. However, all fires in the Township are investigated as suspicious in nature until proven otherwise. No injuries were reported.

The source of the fire is under investigation by Det. Steven Ciosek of the Hopewell Township Police Department, as well as Detectives from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services personnel.

This information was provided by the Hopewell Township Police Department. Photos are courtsey of Pennington Fire Company.
