(UPDATED) Mercer County Communities Set To Celebrate 33rd Annual National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO), a free, fun, and educational evening, will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd. NNO participants come together in homes, on neighborhood streets, and at local community centers with the goal of strengthening relationships between the community and police. Last year, 38.3 million people from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide participated. Below are the events throughout Mercer County:

 

East Windsor Township

Location: East Windsor P.A.L. Complex, 30 Airport Road

Time: 6-9pm

Event Details: This fun and educational Township event, sponsored by Mayor Janice Mironov and Council Members in conjunction with the police department, will feature police, fire and emergency medical services equipment and crime watch information. There will be demonstrations by a canine trained in detecting illegal drugs, child safety  car seat inspections and demonstrations by the American Red Cross. Many community groups and area businesses will host booths with information and giveaways supporting the NNO theme. Additionally, areas will be set up for issuance of identification cards for children, fire hose demonstrations, as well as face painting, a moon bounce, and rock climbing wall for children. Music and prizes will be provided by New Jersey Radio 101.5 and refreshments will be available. For further information, contact Det. Gorski at (609) 448-5678, ext. 231.

 

Ewing Township

Location: Ewing Senior/Community  Center located at 999 Lower Ferry Road

Time: 6-8pm

Event Details: There will be free food, music, fire trucks, as well as police and firefighters in attendance.  A large array of vendors will be on site to give out information about their organization or agency that they are representing. Parking will be available at the NJ Department of Transportation parking lot across from the event.  Ewing police officers will be on site to direct traffic and make sure citizens cross Lower Ferry Road safely.  

 

Hamilton Township

Location: Hamilton Police Division, 1270 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd, Hamilton, NJ 08619

Time: 5-8pm

Event Details: There will be a petting zoo, pony rides, a Home Depot Kid’s Workshop activity, police and public safety vehicles, equipment displays, a bounce house and other inflatables, children’s fingerprinting, New Egypt Raceway race cars, Celebrations Photo Booth Lounge, Hawks Towing tow truck, and food and refreshments provided by (while supplies last) Texas Roadhouse & The Wawa Foundation.

 

Hightstown Borough

Location: Rocky Brook Park (Bank Street)

Time: 6-8:30pm

Event Details: Fun, food, games, rides, and much, much more!

 

Hopewell Township

Location: 500 Denow Road (corner of Denow and Van Brunt Roads)

Time: 6-8pm

Event Details: There will be food, entertainment, a bounce house, and a dunk tank. Come see police and fire vehicles on display including the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services smoke house. For additional information, contact Det. Michael Sherman, 609-737-3100 x523, [email protected].

Lawrence Township

Location: Lawrence Township Municipal Grounds

Time: 5:30-8pm

Event Details: Lawrence Police Officers will be holding a cookout as well as activities for children. Area non-profit organizations will provide resource information. Lawrence Township’s own Tony Stacey, Mario Greatti, and the Papa Delux Band will provide entertainment.

 

Princeton

Location: Community Park Pool, 380 Witherspoon Street.

Time: 5-8pm

Event Details: The Princeton Police Department and the Princeton Recreation Department will host the town’s annual NNO event. The event is open to all Princeton residents, and attendees may use the pool facilities free of charge during the event. There will be free food and beverages (while supplies last), a dunk tank, inflatable activities, a rock wall, zumba, face painting, a balloon artist, a display of emergency vehicles, and much more!

 

Robbinsville Township

Location: Police Station, 1117 Route 130, Robbinsville (609) 259-3900

Time:6-9pm

Event Details: There will be food and drinks, a petting zoo, police station tours, inflatable fun, pony rides, games, fingerprinting, Robbinsville Township Fire Department Vehicle Extrication Demonstration, a water slide, a bouncy slide, D.J., and more. Various civic organizations will be at the event. Lastly, the Robbinsville-Hamilton Rotary Club will be holding their Summer Bike Drive at NNO this year. Bring your old bikes, broken bikes, new bikes and donate to this great cause.

 

Trenton (UPDATED on 7/30/16)

Time: 5-10pm

Event DetailsNNO is celebrated throughout block parties in Trenton. Click here to see the complete list of locations! Last year, 93 parties were held in neighborhoods across the city. Members of the Trenton Police Department, Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, New Jersey State Police, and Prosecutor’s Office look forward to visiting all block parties to help celebrate.

West Windsor Township

Location: West Windsor Community Park

Time: 6pm

Event Details: Last year this event was ranked 32nd most attended in the nation! This year, there will be S.W.A.T. Team, Robotic, Pinnacle Parkour, and K9 Demonstrations, a smokehouse, inflatables, food, Army helicopter landings, a D.J., and children’s games.
