Milling and Paving Work Continues in Pennington Borough and Hopewell Township Through Oct. 30

Major roadway resurfacing work continues this week across Pennington Borough and sections of Hopewell Township, with alternating detours in place as crews mill and pave streets through Thursday, October 30, 2025. Local officials are reminding drivers to expect delays, follow posted detours, and allow extra travel time, particularly around the downtown corridor and the Route 31 approaches.

Separately, Hopewell Township announced additional roadwork on Crest Avenue and Pennington Road on October 27 and 28. All work on Pennington Road is behind the curb and will not impact traffic flow.

Monday, Oct. 27

Pennington Borough paving:

  • W. Delaware Ave (Main St → Green St)
  • Green St (W. Delaware Ave → Broemel Pl)
  • Broemel Pl (Green St → Rt. 31)

Hopewell Township work:

  • Crest Avenue
  • Pennington Road (behind the curb — no traffic disruption)

Detours active: 12, 13, and 16

Tuesday, Oct. 28

Pennington Borough paving:

  • W. Delaware Ave / Pennington-Titusville Rd (Rt. 31 → Dublin Rd)
  • Dublin Rd (Pennington-Titusville Rd → Morningside Dr)

Hopewell Township work:

  • Pennington Road continues (behind the curb; no detour needed)

Detours active: 3 and 4

Wednesday, Oct. 29

Paving:

  • Blackwell Rd (Rt. 31 → Pennington-Lawrenceville Rd)

Detour 17 active

Thursday, Oct. 30 (Night work — 9 p.m.–6 a.m.)

Paving:

  • Pennington-Lawrenceville Rd (Blackwell Rd → Pennington Rd)
  • Rt. 31 at W. Delaware Ave intersection

Detours active: 5 and 14
Rt. 31 will operate with one lane overnight.

All detours in effect this week permit:

  • Local resident access
  • Emergency response access
  • Deliveries and municipal services
  • School and library access via posted alternate routes

Pennington School and Pennington Market remain accessible from Route 31.
