Hopewell Valley Central High School

This week, the Hopewell Valley Girls Volleyball team won all three games they played, improving their season record to 8-4. On Monday, the girls played against Princeton Day, winning in three sets: 25-13, 18-25, 25-22. Despite the close call towards the end the girls played a great game, with several kills from Faith Dunham and Sofie Ragins, as well as strong setting from Anna Chrenlich and JW Han. The game also displayed some great play from the back row by Gianna Dominique and the front row from Zoe Reznik. On Tuesday, the girls faced off against Notre Dame, ultimately pulling out a close two set win: 25-20 and 26-24. The game featured strong sets from Han and great hitting from Sydney Brown and Emilie Sawicki. The game also showed off the Bulldogs’ strong defense with strong passing from both Michaela Kwak and Megan Silberberger. On Saturday, the girls pulled off another two set win against Hillsborough: 25-22 and 25-17. The game was fast-paced and entertaining, will some incredible saves from Ragins, Silberberger and Kwak, as well as strong setting from Zoe Kitson. The game also featured kills from Dunhan, Sawicki and Gillian Lee.

Meanwhile, Hopewell Boys Soccer had two very tough matchups and struggled in both, against schools who have been very successful this season. Their first game was against Notre Dame on Tuesday. This was a very tough game on both sides of the field. The game ended 4-1, with the lone Hopewell goal scored by Dean DiGiacomo with only a few minutes left in the game. On Saturday, the inaugural game of a new annual tradition was played in the Battle of 31. Pennington is one of the most successful teams in the state and even in the country, ranking among the best of the best. Hopewell was shut out in a 2-0 loss, although Hopewell did have a few good chances at scoring. The Bulldogs are now 6-3 this season.

Saturday’s (Oct.2) outcome vs Northfield bank was a 5-2 victory for Pennington Pizza and Grill. A hat trick from a hardnosed player Aarush Bhol was the first one recorded for the team. Another 2 goals were provided by complete team player Johan Ampongan; Sunday’s results were another one for the books for Pennington Pizza and Grill vs. Investors Bank 3-1 win. All three goals were scored by Alden Levy despite playing only in the 2nd half. The 2nd hat trick for the team, as the rest of the team players played a major supporting role in achieving that feat. Have a nice week ahead to all.
