New Jersey State Parks Hiring 800+ Seasonal Workers for 2026

by Community Contributor

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is now accepting applications for more than 800 seasonal jobsat state parks, forests, and historic sites across New Jersey, ahead of increased visitation expected during the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations this year.

Positions are available statewide — from High Point State Park to Cape May Point — and include lifeguards, junior lifeguards, general maintenance staff, visitor service assistants, office assistants, naturalists, and history educators. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Most positions start at $16.50 per hour, with higher starting rates for lifeguards and positions at certain parks. Seasonal staff typically work from Memorial Day through Labor Day, including weekends and holidays.

Officials say the expanded hiring reflects both peak summer demand and special programming planned at parks and historic sites connected to the American Revolution.

Applicants can view openings and apply at nj.gov/dep/workinparks. Applications are encouraged as soon as possible.
