January 31 marked the last day on the job for Chief of Police Douglas Pinelli of the Pennington Police Department. Chief Pinelli, who has served in the Police Department for more than 20 years, was awarded a proclamation by Pennington Mayor Jim Davy. In emotional speeches, the Chief’s wife and daughter spoke proudly of the Chief’s many accomplishments during his tenure with the Department.
The ceremony continued with the traditional “Walkout” marking the last time that Chief Pinelli leaves headquarters while serving as Chief. Once outside, Chief Pinelli radioed the Hopewell Township Communications Center and signed off his radio for the final time marking the end of a storied career.
Chief Pinelli said,” I’m going to take a little time to relax and then we’ll see where the path leads. It’s been a great ride so far.”
