Protection Approved for Lawrence Police

by Angela Jacobs

The Lawrence Town Council approved a capital ordinance Tuesday night funding the purchase of steel plated vests for its 32 police officers. Lawrence Township officers currently wear body armor that is impenetrable to most firepower. The new vests will provide extra protection in the event of an active shooter situation.

“The Police Department thanks the Township for its support in keeping our officers safe,” said Mark Ubry, Chief of Police.

Additionally, capital budget funds will be used to purchase body cameras for all officers by the end of 2016.
