The Lawrence Hopewell Trail has opened registration for its popular Full Moon Ride & Walk, returning to Mercer Meadows on Saturday, Sept. 26.

While the event is still several months away, organizers are encouraging participants to register early to take advantage of discounted pricing that runs through June 24.
The annual community fundraiser draws hundreds of cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts for an evening under the light of the Harvest Moon. This year’s event will once again feature the popular six-mile moonlit bike ride and, for the first time, an organized Full Moon Walk, allowing participants of all ages and abilities to join the celebration.
“The Full Moon Ride & Walk is one of the most magical nights of the year,” said David Sandahl, board chair of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail Corporation. “Whether you’re cycling or enjoying a moonlit stroll, this event brings our community together while supporting the LHT.”
The event will take place at the Rosedale Lake section of Mercer Meadows in Pennington. Registration opens at 7 p.m., with the bike ride beginning at 7:30 p.m. Participants are invited to arrive early to enjoy music, activities and the festive atmosphere before heading out on the trail. Afterward, attendees can gather around the fire pit for s’mores and enjoy food from local vendors.
Early-bird registration through June 24 is $25 for adults and $20 for youth. Prices increase after that date and again on the day of the event. Organizers note that registering now not only saves money but also helps support the Lawrence Hopewell Trail’s ongoing efforts to expand and maintain the region’s popular multi-use trail network.
The Full Moon Walk will follow an approximately one-mile route along scenic Stony Brook and is open to participants of all ages. The bike ride is open to adults and youth ages 12 and older. Riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
In 2024, more than 500 people participated in the event, with attendees traveling from across the region and beyond. Organizers expect another strong turnout this year for what has become one of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail’s signature community events.
Registration, sponsorship information, volunteer opportunities and event details are available at lhtrail.org. The rain date is Sept. 27.
