Residents Can Now Recycle #5 Plastics

by Community Contributor

The Mercer County Improvement Authority will now accept #5 plastics (polypropylene) in residents’ curbside recycling containers, along with plastics labeled #1 and #2.

Starting in December, Hopewell Valley residents can recycle previously excluded items such as  amber medicine bottles, beverage caps and takeout meal containers. Just make sure they were not used to hold toxic or hazardous substances. To download Mercer County’s 2025 recycling pickup schedule and the latest list of acceptable materials, click here.
