Road closures in the Valley this week

by Amie Rukenstein

Carter Road PSE&G Construction for July 26-30

PSE&G is actively working along Carter Road, between Elm Ridge Road and Rosedale Road, completing underground activity. Below is the traffic plan map for the week of July 26, 2021. There will be one work zone where local residents who live within the construction area will be able to get through.  Please follow the direction of the traffic control as there may be some delays going through the work zone.  Be aware of, and look for, signs indicating road closures and detours in the area.

Pennington-Titusville Road between Scotch Road and Route 31. This week they will be working on:

  1. Finish milling
  2. Base repair (where needed)
  3. Start paving

Bear Tavern Road/ Rt. 579 between Pennington-Titusville Road and Pennington-Harbourton/Pleasant Valley Rd. will be closed starting this week for road repair by Mercer County.

Please note that there are therefore two detours on Scotch Road – the County directs people trying to traverse Bear Tavern to go east to Scotch and then back west on the parallel road.  The Township detour also uses Scotch Rd to circumvent their work, so there are two detour signs – one directing Pennington-Titusville traffic east on Pennington-Harbourton to Route 31 and one directing Bear Tavern traffic west back to 579.

Note that you cannot make a left from Pennington-Harbourton, so if you are east-bound on Pennington-Titusville and want to go north on Rt. 31, you must go north on Scotch, east on Pennington-Harbourton and then go around the shopping center to reach the light at Tree Farm Rd.* and Route 31.
