Seniors Gather for Annual Picnic at Washington Crossing State Park

by Seth Siditsky

More than 100 local seniors turned out Thursday, Sept. 11, for the annual Hopewell Valley Senior Picnic at Washington Crossing State Park, enjoying food, fellowship, and a sunny afternoon under the trees.

Lunch was served by township employees and local leaders, including Police Chief James Rosso, officers from the Hopewell Valley Police Department, Mayor Courtney Peters-Manning, and Deputy Mayor David Chait.

The picnic also featured resource tables from the Mercer County Library, the county health department, and emergency services personnel, who reminded residents to check the batteries in their smoke detectors. After lunch, attendees took part in prize giveaways, enjoyed live music, and capped the day with ice cream from Mister Softee.

The annual event is hosted by Hopewell Valley Senior Services and the Hopewell Township Recreation Department, offering seniors a chance to catch up with friends and connect with community programs in a relaxed outdoor setting.
