Titusville Minister Named Poet Laureate of SUDC Foundation

by Community Contributor

Reverend Kim Wildszewski, Senior Minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing (UUCWC), has been appointed as the first Poet Laureate of the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Foundation. In response to the loss of her son, Malcolm, in 2020, Rev. Kim turned to poetry.

The SUDC Foundation leadership says of her appointment, Rev. Kim’s “poignant poetry adds a heartfelt touch to SUDC events, starting with a special poem for the 2024 Memorial Ceremony. Her role includes raising SUDC awareness and supporting those in grief. Rev. Kim also leads Lectio Divina sessions for SUDC, offering solace and unity to affected families.” She offers a similar practice in her role as Senior Minister at UUCWC, pairing poetry and modern expressions of prayer.

The SUDC Foundation is the only organization worldwide whose purpose is to raise awareness, fund research, and serve those affected by sudden unexplained death in childhood. SUDC is a category of death in children between the ages of 2-18 that remains unexplained after thorough investigation, including an autopsy.
