Tree and Menorah Lightings Spark Township Holiday Season

by Mike Chipowsky

On December 2, Hopewell Township held its annual tree- and Menorah-lighting celebration on the lawn of the Township Municipal Building. Mayor Courtney Peters-Manning greeted a crowd of about 200 and introduced the Township Committee.

TOWNSHIP TRADITIONS
As is tradition, Younity (formerly Womanspace) was recognized for its work in the community, supporting victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. The Bear Tavern Treble Makers also returned this year to light up the evening with song.

2024 GUEST OF HONOR
In addition to the usual count-down lighting ceremony, a highlight of the evening was a special honor bestowed on the Hopewell Valley Arts Council, which was recognized as the 2024 Guest of Honor. On behalf of the organization the Council’s Carol Lipson accepted a Certificate of Appreciation for the group’s dedication to fostering creativity, increasing art awareness, and bringing artistic inspiration to Township residents. The Council hosts various public art programs throughout the year such as the Amazing Pumpkin Carve.
