Vehicle Fire in Lawrence Township Under Investigation

The Lawrence Township Police Department issued the following statement today regarding the vehicle fire incident on Christmas evening:

Lawrence Township Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle fire that occurred on the Trenton Freeway southbound (Route 1) in the area of Whitehead Road on December 25, 2015 at 6:26pm. On patrol’s arrival, the vehicle, a 2004 Honda CRV, was located up on the curb and fully engulfed with flames. Richard Silverstein, 35 years old from Kendall Park was located outside the vehicle with burns to his face, arms and torso. Silverstein was taken to Capital Health Regional at Fuld, the transported to Temple University Hospital Burn Center in Philadelphia for care. Silverstein was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The vehicle fire was extinguished by Slackwood Fire Company and Lawrence Road Fire Company.

The motor vehicle fire is still under investigation for cause and origin by Officer John Stever, Detective Todd Caruso and Mercer County Prosecutors Office Detective Marc Masseroni. If anyone has information regarding the fire can contact Lawrence Police at 609-896-1111 or [email protected].
