Hopewell Valley Police Blotter: September 16-19 Reports

Vandalism at Construction Site with Political Graffiti Found

On September 16, Officer Brigham responded to a report of criminal mischief at a construction site on East Broad Street in Hopewell Borough. The foreman reported that a temporary fence on the property had been spray-painted with the words “Dump Trump,” causing approximately $100 in damage. The incident is believed to have occurred between September 14 and 16. No further information is available at this time.

Burglary at Titusville Home While Residents Were Away

On September 9, Officer Michael Enriquez and Detective Collins responded to a reported burglary at a home on Forest Blend Drive. The homeowner returned at 10:40am to find the front door wide open and the home burglarized. The incident is believed to have occurred between September 6 and 9, while the residents were away. Various pieces of jewelry, valued at approximately $65,000, were stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

DUI Arrest Follows Crash on Hopewell Princeton Road

On September 9 at 11:05pm, Hopewell Township Police Department (HTPD) responded to a report of an overturned vehicle on Hopewell Princeton Road. Officer Arthur Juba and other officers provided emergency aid and investigated the crash. During the investigation, the driver was identified and showed signs of intoxication. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI, transported to HTPD for processing, and later released from custody. Charges include DUI, reckless driving, failure to submit to chemical testing, and failure to maintain lane. The matter will be heard in Municipal Court.

Online Order Goes Missing, Investigation Ongoing

On September 11, Officer Ryan Finnegan met with the victim of theft in the HTPD lobby. The victim reported that they placed an order online through Under Armor, due to be delivered on August 23. The victim received a message stating that the package was delivered, however, nothing was received. The total amount purchased was reported as $638.97. It is unknown at this time if the item was lost in transit or if the items were stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

Burglars Steal Lawn Mower from Federal City Road Trailer

On September 14, Officer Jonathan Pauciullo responded to a Federal City Road address for a reported burglary involving a lawn mower from an enclosed trailer. The victim stated that their lawn mower was stolen from the trailer on the same date between 12:16am and 12:35am, and they had surveillance video of the incident. The video showed two male subjects entering the trailer and removing the lawn mower before leaving with it on foot. The exact dollar amount of the lawn mower is being provided, but not noted at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Copper Piping Stolen from Washington Crossing Road Construction Site

On September 16, Officer Finnegan responded to a Washington Crossing Road address for a reported theft of copper from a home under construction. Upon arrival, Officer Finnegan spoke with the construction manager who said two hundred feet of copper piping, worth $1000, were stolen from the residence between September 13 and 16. The incident is under investigation.

Driver Charged with DUI After Off-Road Crash on Hopewell Wertsville Road

On September 19 at 10:38pm Officer Stanton responded to a reported motor vehicle crash an off-road vehicle (Polaris) on Hopewell Wertsville Road. The police responded and the driver The driver crashed the vehicle, and emergency services responded. While on the scene, the driver exhibited signs of intoxication. Charges include DUI and reckless driving. The matter will be heard in Municipal Court.
