23rd Annual Communities of Light Set for December 2nd

The Pennington and Hopewell Boroughs will glow on the evening of December 2, 2024 to mark the 23rd annual Communities of Light event. The initiative is organized by Younity (formerly Womanspace) as a way to raise awareness and funds for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Individual households can show their support by illuminating their windows.

In Hopewell, the sundown event will begin with a lighting ceremony outside of Borough Hall at 5:30 PM. In the wake of recently lifted fire bans, officials are recommending the use of battery-operated LEDs. Pennington Borough’s website encourages residents to order official Communities of Light luminary kits.

How You Can Participate:

Illuminate Your Home: Purchase a Luminary Kit and display it at your home to show your support for survivors. Kits are available for purchase at our Administrative Office or participating retailers starting October 29th.

Coordinate with Your Community: Work with your neighbors or colleagues to amplify the message of hope and solidarity in your area. Become a Community Coordinator to assist with kit distribution and event organization

Be an Individual Sponsor: Show your commitment to violence-free homes and communities with a donation. Your contribution will support Younity’s crucial work with survivors, from crisis to self-empowered lives free from violence.
