Registration is now open for Voices Chorale NJ’s award-winning Young Composers Project, an exciting opportunity for children in grades K-7 to create and develop their own musical compositions. Held at Music Together in Hopewell, NJ, the program runs from February through May, with monthly workshops beginning February 25 and culminating in a concert on May 19.
This program reflects Voices Chorale NJ’s core mission of fostering music education and community engagement. Under the direction of composer Ken Guilmartin, founder and artistic director of Music Together, children will work with local musicians and composers in a series of hands-on workshops designed to encourage creativity and musical development. Throughout the process, participants refine their compositions, with the opportunity to have their pieces performed in the final concert—sometimes accompanied by Voices Chorale singers.
“This initiative underscores Voices Chorale’s commitment to fostering music education and community engagement,” said Guilmartin.

The Young Composers Project has been a beloved part of Hopewell’s arts community, drawing many participants from Hopewell and Pennington over the years. Organizers say they already have a strong group of children registered for this year but are looking for a few more to round out the program.
The registration deadline is February 23, and space is limited. To learn more and sign up, visit voiceschoralenj.org/ycp.
